Pastor, Civic Leader, Gospel Recording Artist, Conference Speaker and Counselor; Bishop Dr. Roy L. Foots was born in Littleton, North Carolina, the son of the late Louise and Thomas Foots, he is a graduate of Miller University, School of Theology in Montclair, New Jersey. Pastor Foots is married to his childhood sweetheart and love of his life Laura Silver. God has blessed them with three lovely daughters: Sherri (Joey) Caldwell, Shunta (Sedgewick) Summers, and Shanet (Edward) Beatty. They are also blessed to have five wonderful grandchildren Jadin Caldwell, Joseph Caldwell, Jr., Sean Summers, Seth Summers and Elijah Foots. Pastor Foots is the founder/visionary of Sunset Baptist Church in Queens Village, New York. While residing in New York, he was very active in his community. He was employed twenty years with the New York City Department of Corrections. After relocating to Virginia, he became Pastor of Baptist Union Baptist Church in Dillwyn, Virginia, where he served for seven years. Through his Pastoral leadership he was able to build the Village of Angels Day Care, which serviced multicultural children in their educational development, the restoration of the Deep Bottom School into distribution center for the Food Bank, also the Audio Video Ministry was established and a scholarship fund for college bound high school seniors was implemented. In 1999, under the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he is currently the founder/visionary of the New Direction Evangelistic Church. Under Pastor Foots’ guidance and leadership the church has increased tremendously in membership and ministries. The dynamic impact of this church is felt through Radio and Television Broadcasts, Prison Ministry, Evangelism, and Outreach Services throughout the community. Pastor has led this ministry in the successful completion of the first of a three-phase, multi-million dollar building project. Pastor Foots has instilled in his church family the church’s mission of providing an atmosphere where God’s people can find hope, be blessed and receive spiritual development through the teaching and receiving of God’s word.
