Bishop Dr. Roy & First Lady Foots founded new Direction Evangelistic Church (NDEC) in August 1999 with only 12 members. The first service was held on September 13, 1999 at the Providence Middle School, at 900 Starlight Lane Richmond, Virginia. In December 2001, New Direction opened New Direction Childcare & Learning Center (the Center) an extension of NDEC. The Center has the capacity to accommodate and service a total of 110 children, from birth to 12 years old. Through hard work and determination the center successfully enrolled over eighty children by the end of the first half of 2002 and today operates at full capacity. The Center has received nearly ten thousand dollars in grants to offset the education and training costs. The Center became an income producing childcare facility to offset the debt of the new building. In January 2002, Pastor, First Lady Foots and the congregation decided to relocate services from Providence Middle School location to 140 E. Belt Boulevard. This was a temporary location until the new church location was constructed. In 2002, NDEC purchased 5 acres then an additional 14 acres for the new site. While worshipping at 140 E. Belt Boulevard, NDEC experienced tremendous growth. On May 3, 2003, NDEC had its ground breaking service. Shortly afterwards construction was halted due to contractual issues. From 2004 through 2006, NDEC worked diligently to press on with the construction of the new church. Glory Be To in May 2007 construction of the new facility resumed and the facility was completed September 2007. God has truly blessed New Direction Evangelistic Church, Bishop Foots and the vision. Most importantly God has allowed many souls to be saved, delivered and set free through this ministry. We thank God for our Bishop the visionary, who God has so compassionately blessed New Direction with. To God Be the Glory for all, He is doing in our lives daily. |
