Laura C. Foots grew up in Littleton, North Carolina. As a youth, she served as a Sunday school teacher and participated in various youth ministries. She has received numerous awards and certificates for academic accomplishments. First Lady Foots was featured in the national “Who’s Who among Seniors”.

First Lady Foots is married to her childhood sweetheart, Rev. Dr. Roy Foots. They have three wonderful daughters: Sherri, Shunta, Shanet, three sons-in-law, and four grandchildren.Laura is committed to her church and community and her blend of scholarship and spirituality are a rare find in today's world. As a woman of God, she truly loves the Lord and we thank God for her humble spirit. First Lady encourages, educates, and uplifts the women of God, giving them strength for their daily Christian walk.

First Lady has over twenty years of leadership experience with the IBM Corporation, where she held many management positions on a local, regional and national level. As part of IBM’s community program, First Lady volunteered and worked with the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation and served as Minority Business Development Manager for the state of Virginia. Mrs. Foots has also served on several committees in the community such as the CHOATE Foundation, Unified Community Family Life Center, and Chairperson for the Central Virginia Food Bank’s Advisory Council, and the United Way of Richmond. She currently serves as a board member on the Central Virginia Food Bank, along with being the First Lady and executive administrator of New Direction Evangelistic Church.

Mrs. Foots is the Founder and owner of New Direction Childcare Center. She believes in making a difference for every child’s life. The philosophy of the Childcare Center is “to provide children with a safe, secure, and loving environment with lots of learning opportunities." We believe children are life's most valuable resource. They are our future. We believe that strengthening a child’s foundation will yield a strong and secure adult.
 
New Direction Childcare and Learning Center has been featured in several newsletters, brochures, and on several local news stations.
